Innovations in Digital Instruction Through Virtual Environments is an edited collection that invites authors who have worked to sustain and develop digital/media pedagogical practices, particularly over the last few years in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The scope of the book is, however, not limited to this timeframe. The editor has particular interest in digital pedagogies, affinity spaces, virtual engagement, digital literacy, responsive teaching, and a linking of both theory and practice. Teachers and researchers are welcome to submit chapters.

This book seeks to advance knowledge about the pedagogical decisions and lived experiences of researchers and teachers both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Questions taken up by chapters include: What role do digital technologies play in fostering connections and learning? What are affordances of digital texts and spaces for virtual classroom experiences? What difficulties have educators faced and how have practices been crafted to meet these challenges? What are the key elements of virtual instruction that should remain in place once the pandemic is over?
