More than half of state high school graduation requirements in the United States require economics coursework, and even more states either offer economics coursework or integrate economics into their Kindergarten. Despite the large and growing amount of economics content expected in the K-12 classroom, educators are often not provided the resources to effectively integrate economics into their curriculum and must pursue such resources on their own, such as workshops or materials available online. Locating, vetting, and then integrating such resources can be a challenge for educators, especially when economics is only one of the topics they must include in their curriculum. There exists a need for an edited collection of such materials in this area.


This book aims to provide relevant cases and examples of effective economics education topics suited for K-12 educators. The cases are written with current and future practitioners in mind who are teaching or planning to teach economics in the K-12 classroom. Topics covered in this book aim to assist current and future economic educators in pedagogy, methodology, practitioner examples, and practices that support a learning environment that engages and includes all learners and especially groups that have been under-represented in economics.

Target Audience

Cases discussed in this book are aimed towards college students who are planning to teach economics in the K-12 classroom. Additionally, this book will support practitioners and curriculum design professionals concerned with enhancing and supporting student success.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before October 8, 2022, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by October 22, 2022 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters are expected to be submitted by December 21, 2022, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Cases on Economics Education and Tools for Educators. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-blind peer review editorial process.
