Call for Chapters

Proposals Submission Deadline: December 31, 2023
Full Chapters Due: March 3, 2024
Submission Date: March 3, 2024

The purpose of this new text is to provide a synthesis of research in the discipline of teacher education in agriculture and to propose important research efforts across all components of agricultural teacher education. Currently, there is not a centralized research handbook for the profession to reference previous studies, expand knowledge in agricultural teacher education, and showcase advancements in topical research agendas.

This text aims to provide significant background and focus within the discipline and a comprehensive research focus for agriculture teacher education. AAAE has developed a national research agenda for the last twenty years, but those documents have been broad-based for the professional organization. This text will focus on full development specifically for agricultural teacher education, including professional development programs for practicing teachers, supervisory and administrative functions of state agencies, graduate education, and programmatic research, in addition to the basic program of preparing secondary school teachers.

Target Audience

This reference textbook will be purposeful in outlining a research agenda that focuses on the discipline of agriculture teacher education by: 1) providing a historical document on previous studies within the profession; 2) showcasing trends and research methodologies utilized to answer questions/issues in the discipline; 3) providing for context and a paramount publication for new scholars entering the profession; 4) providing academic voice to practitioners to improve their profession; and 5) invite international collaborative efforts as this publication will make it easier for international partners to find foundational scholarly work.
