Call for Chapters

Proposals Submission Deadline: June 23, 2025
Full Chapters Due: July 28, 2025

Introduction

In the age of computational generativity (whether for creating synthetic data, imagery, sound, motion visuals, multimodal outputs, and others), people have become much more able to create artifice and various desirable fictions and simulations. They are able to supplement data or create data wholesale. They are able to create illusionary impressions that are close to the real, that can stand-in. Much of the world—mediated digitally—may be made-to-order, with automated relating, intercommunications, and fantasy- and world- building (harnessing the power of vicarity). This work explores the various applications and potentialities of digital synthetics, applied across a range of disciplines and fields. What are the benefits and harms of their various applications? Is it difficult to differentiate the real from the faux IRL? Can digital synthetics enhance life in the real, and can possible negatives be controlled for? How so? What digital synthetics are auto-generated and auto-deployed, and which have human-in-the-loop, and why? How are auto-generated models authenticated or disproved, validated or invalidated? What are typical use cases of going to digital synthetics…such as for learning, for mood regulation, for entertainment, for design, and other uses?

Objective

This work will collect various research works and case studies related to the building of digital synthetics (and synth data) in terms of data of various forms and used in various applications

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before June 23, 2025, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by June 30, 2025 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters of a minimum of 10,000 words (word count includes references and related readings) are expected to be submitted by July 28, 2025, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Digital Synthetic Data and Outputs. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-anonymized peer review editorial process.

All proposals should be submitted through the eEditorial Discovery® online submission manager.
