Introduction

Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the landscape of humanities and social sciences, offering new tools, perspectives, and methodologies that challenge traditional approaches. Once considered domains driven primarily by human intuition and qualitative analysis, fields such as linguistics, history, philosophy, sociology, and psychology are now integrating AI-driven insights to enhance research, teaching, and practical applications. This transformation is not merely a technological shift; it represents a fundamental evolution in how we understand human behavior, culture, and society. The integration of AI into these disciplines raises profound questions: How does AI redefine the role of human expertise? Can machine learning models accurately interpret complex human emotions, historical narratives, or ethical dilemmas? What are the ethical and philosophical implications of AI driven decision making in social sciences? This book seeks to explore these questions while highlighting the potential and challenges of AI adoption in these fields. Through interdisciplinary perspectives, we examine how AI is revolutionizing qualitative and quantitative research, improving data-driven policy-making, and expanding the frontiers of knowledge. From natural language processing (NLP) in linguistic studies to predictive analytics in sociology, AI is not replacing human inquiry but augmenting it, allowing scholars to analyze patterns at unprecedented scales. However, this transformation also calls for critical reflection on issues such as algorithmic bias, data privacy, and the risk of over-reliance on automation. By bridging the gap between AI and the humanities and social sciences, this book serves as a guide for researchers, educators, and students navigating this evolving landscape. It provides case studies, theoretical discussions, and practical applications, illustrating how AI is not just a tool but a catalyst for redefining intellectual traditions and humanistic inquiry in the 21st century.

Objective

The objective of Transforming Humanities and Social Sciences Through AI is to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping traditional disciplines by enhancing research methodologies, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and addressing ethical challenges. This book examines AI’s role in fields such as linguistics, sociology, history, and psychology, demonstrating its potential to revolutionize qualitative and quantitative analysis. It highlights practical applications, ethical considerations, and the implications of AI-driven decision-making, while also providing guidance for educators and researchers on integrating AI into their work. Ultimately, this book aims to position AI as a powerful tool that complements human inquiry, preserving the critical, ethical, and humanistic values at the core of humanities and social sciences.
