Abstract

Organizational leaders design and incorporate business models or processes to gain competitive advantage. These business models or methods detail how the organization operates to gain a competitive advantage and ultimately increase shareholders' wealth. Some business models incorporate unethical leadership and business practices at the expense of corporate social responsibility (CSR). The exclusion of CSR often eradicates stakeholders' value, leading to numerous unsustainable results. The disregard for CSR drives consequences inclusive of but limited to climate change, forced and child labor, poor workplace conditions, irreversible depletion of natural resources, gender inequality, absence of diversity and inclusion, pollution, and using tainted supply chains. Organizational leadership must transform business models to achieve sustainability. The lack of established frameworks and policing bodies to monitor organizations hinder the global thrust toward sustainable development growth.
