Andrea R. Harkins-BrownAndrea Harkins-Brown is the Assistant Deputy Director of the IDEALS Institute and an Assistant Research Scientist in the School of Education at Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Harkins-Brown was the Graduate Program Director and Assistant Professor in Special Education at Towson University. She has served as a special educator and central office administrator, providing technical assistance in special education at the district-wide level. Dr. Harkins-Brown’s research focuses on effective implementation of special education policies and procedures, school-based implementation of evidence-based practices, effective technology integration, online learning, and innovative teaching practices to support diverse populations of learners. Dr. Harkins-Brown holds a B.S. in Special Education from Towson University, an M.Ed. in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University, a post-baccalaureate certificate in Educational Administration from Goucher College, and an Ed.D. in Instructional Technology from Towson University.
