Joana Brocardo

Joana Brocardo has a degree in Mathematics, branch of Educational Training, a master’s degree in education and development and a PhD in Education, specializing in Mathematics Didactics. She is a retired Coordinating Professor of the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal. She has worked in initial and continuing teacher education since 1989 and is the author of books and articles published in several specialized journals. Her research interests focus on the study of Numbers and Operations from a number sense development perspective and on the introduction to Algebra. She has coordinated several research projects and recently, she coordinates the team of mathematics teachers that participated in the Digital Educational Resources (DER) project.
