Michael Hylen

Michael Hylen serves as Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Department of Education at Southern Wesleyan University. He has published research on social emotional learning, servant leadership and working with at-risk students. His book, , was released in November 2022. Prior to higher education, he served 28 years in k-12 education. His most extensive work was as an alternative high school principal for students who struggled academically, emotionally and behaviorally. He has a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from the Center for Character Education and Citizenship at the University of Missouri St. Louis,
