Neporcha Cone

Neporcha T. Cone has published and presented widely on the topic equity in teacher education. She is committed to providing teacher candidates with learning environments that foster the knowledge, skills, and dispositions requisite for working effectively with students from diverse backgrounds. She began her career as a middle school science teacher in Miami, where she taught for seven years. She has a B.S. in Biology from Florida State University and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Florida. As a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Miami, she helped to develop science curriculum and assessment instruments for elementary-age multilingual learners. Cone has received National Science Foundation grants for her research. Currently, she serves as the Dean of the College of Education at Middle Tennessee State University.
