Nilanthy Balakrishnan

Nilanthy Balakrishnan is a Lecturer in Physics at Keele University, United Kingdom, and has more than 10 years of experience in semiconductor physics and nanofabrication. Her current research interest is fundamental science and applications of 2D materials. She has extensive experience in developing and exploiting 2D materials growth, especially for optoelectronics, ferroelectrics, and thermoelectrics. She obtained her BSc Hons degree in Physics from the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka in 2008, MSc by Research, and PhD in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2012 and 2015, respectively. She has published 16 research articles in high-profile journals and given talks at 12 major international conferences, including 2 keynote and 2 invited talks. The success of her research was recognised by the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) Young Scientist Award in 2012. Also, She received more than £200k value of research grants and scholarships from various professional bodies and funding agencies.
