Norshiha Saidin

Norshiha Saidin has over thirty years of Academic experience as a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Education, with areas of expertise in Classroom Management, Teacher Education and Language Education for Boys. Pioneered research into investigating boys as the new disadvantaged group. Presented numerous conference papers, authored 3 books and several publications in refereed journals. Spent the last twelve years in various leadership post in UiTM as Head of UiTM and KPM Twinning Program (2002-2006), Head of TESL Program (2007-2009), Head of UiTM Community Networking, ICAN (2012-2014), and currently Head of Asasi TESL in CFS UiTM Dengkil. In 2011 was granted a one year Sabbatical tenure at University of South Adelaide, Australia. Posesses vast exposure in training and consultancy, regular speaker at UiTM KAP training for young lecturers in IlQAM and ILD courses, as well as invited speaker on various topics such as Motivation, Teacher Education and Social Entrepreneurship to Universities and schools in the Klang Valley. Developed competencies in Social Entrepreneurship, Humanitarian Aid and Volunteerism. Promotes youth philanthropy projects in UiTM and established international collaborations with NGO’s and humanitarian organisations such as MERCY Malaysia, Syria Care, Al Itisam Relief Project, Aman Palestin, Asian Development Relief Fund (ADRF) and South East Asian Social Innovation Network (SEASIN). Initiated the establishment of UiTM MERCY Malaysia chapter in UITM and spearheaded various international humanitarian projects in Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia. The International Humanitarian Mission to Kampung Ampal, Cambodia in 2012 successfully raised funds for the construction of 44 wells and distribution of education kits to communities in need. This project won UiTM a gold medal in the Innovative Practices in Higher Education Expo 2015 (IPHEX), organized by AKEPT. In 2017 the innovative co-curriculum at the Asasi TESL program won an Award from YB Dato Idris Jusoh Anugerah Pemikiran & Rekabentuk Semula Pendidikan (APRS 2017) Redesigning and Rethinking Higher Education Award organized by MOHE and awarded a RM10,000 grant. Founding member of PRIZMA, New Zealand Malaysian Student Alumni and served as Exco and Secretary General of UiTM Academic Staff Association (MITASA) since 2009.
