Samira Bashiru

Samira Bashiru is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Special Education at Purdue University. She also serves as the Operations Coordinator for the Center for Resources and Equipment for Assistive Technology in Education (CREATE). Samira's research centers around evidence-based strategies and practices that support families and enhance the development of children with or without disabilities. She is particularly interested in English Language learners with real or perceived disabilities, and is currently working on two research papers, one on evidence-based practices for English Learners with disabilities and another on creativity in preschoolers with and without speech disorders. Samira has gained teaching experience as a graduate teaching assistant at Purdue University and as an instructor at Norquest College in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She is a student representative of the Indiana Division of Early Childhood (IN-DEC) and a member of the Purdue Holmes Scholar program.
