Sibel Özdemir-Çağatay

Sibel Özdemir-Çağatay earned her undergraduate degree in ELT from Boğaziçi University, Turkey in 2007 and completed the international teaching certificate of In-service Training in English Language teaching (ICELT) delivered by Cambridge University in 2009. She did her master’s in MA TEFL program at Bilkent University in 2012, and completed her PhD in English Language Teaching at Hacettepe University in 2018. She worked as a lecturer at Bilkent University between the years 2007 and 2009 and since 2009, she has been working as a lecturer (PhD) at Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey. In addition to her own research studies, she is currently working as the coordinator of the Research & Development Unit (R&D) of Foreign Languages Department at METU, conducting research to improve the implementations at the department. She has also delivered EAP classes such as academic writing for publishing purposes for academics working in different universities and second language acquisition courses for pre-service English teachers. Her professional interests lie in attributions, L2 Motivational Self System (L2MSS), English Medium Instruction (EMI), motivation, teacher education & identity, and culture in language teaching. She has several publications in journals indexed in Scopus, ESCI, ERIC and also in some international books.
