Soumya Basu

Soumya Basu received her Doctorate degree in 2012 from Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, Jadavpur University. After completing her PhD degree, she joined Molecular Functional Imaging Laboratory, Advanced Centre for Treatment Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Tata Memorial Centre, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai as Research Associate fellowship sponsored by Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. She had joined Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute. Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune in 2014 as Assistant Professor and promoted to Associate Professor in 2020. With 16+ years of trans-disciplinary research experience in Drug Design, development and pre-clinical validation; 20+ publications, 8+ years of teaching experience, trained with cross-disciplinary education, Dr. Basu is a life-long learner who always thrive for new challenges, thrill to explore non-comfort zones. Her research interest is involved in exploring and understanding biological systems at the molecular level with tool sets offered by modern chemistry, cell and molecular biology, bioinformatics and artificial intelligence. She works in the interface of organic chemistry, cell biology and cancer biology to manipulation of cellular activity with newly designed or repurposed bio-active molecules.
