Sridevi Thambapillay

Sridevi Thambapillay obtained her LLB(Hons) with an Upper Second Class from the University of Malaya in 1995. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1996. She completed her Masters in Law (LLM) at the University of Malaya in 1997 and thereafter began her career as a Senior Officer at the Loan Documentation Department in the United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad. Her passion for teaching law resulted in her joining as a lecturer in HELP Institute in 1998. Wanting to enhance her teaching career in a public university, she was indeed fortunate to be offered a tutor’s post at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya in 2001. She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the same place. Her area of research is in Family Law and Elderly Law and has written various articles and edited various books in this area, individually and jointly. She has also presented papers at various conferences, both locally and at the international level. She received the best paper presenter award at a few of the international conferences. She teaches the following subjects at the Faculty of Law, namely, Administrative Law, Legal Method and Family Law. She was conferred a PhD in Law in 2017 by the University of Malaya.
