Marketing Assistant

IGI Global, an international publishing house based in Hershey, PA is in search of a full-time Marketing Assistant who will be responsible for overseeing marketing and sales support initiatives for a variety of print and electronic products. Candidate should have relevant marketing experience (1 to 3+ years), be able to multi-task, meet established deadlines, and have strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), and information technology skills. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the academic publishing industry. This position does not require travel.

Required Skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • General experience in marketing, sales, or related areas

.NET Web Developer

IGI Global, an international publishing house based in Hershey, PA is in search of a full-time .NET Web Developer who will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing robust web-based solutions in support of company goals. The .NET Web Developer will also provide strong leadership amongst developers.

Responsibilities
  • Design a scalable cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) architecture for commercial use
  • Transition existing systems, consisting of multiple web and client components, into a commercial cloud-based SaaS product
  • Development and documentation of RESTful web services
  • Creation of intuitive user interfaces
  • Maintenance and enhancement of existing e-commerce website
  • Maintenance and enhancement of existing database tables, and developing database architecture for new, multi-user, cloud-based systems
  • Responsible for all phases of software development life cycle, including design, testing, and support
Required Skills
  • 3+ Years .NET experience with extensive knowledge in the following technologies: C#, MS SQL, ORM
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to learn quickly and independently
  • Ability to work independently or as a part of a team

Intern – Acquisitions Division

The Intern for the Acquisitions Division of the Editorial Content Department will be an integral facilitating member of the IGI Global book publication process and will learn all aspects of the initial stages of book acquisition, author/editor recruitment, book proposal submission, book proposal review and book proposal acceptance, as well as the proceeding phases of book development, production, marketing and distribution. The Intern will be incorporated into general and advanced office functions to include MS Office-based tasks, e-mail communication, mail merging, and written correspondence with academic researchers across the world.

Primary Function

The primary responsibility of the Intern for the Acquisitions Division of the Editorial Content Department is to assist the operational and administrative tasks of the Director of Editorial Content, Managing Director, Assistant Acquisitions Editor and Editorial Assistants in order to provide foundational support for the publication recruitment goals of the Editorial Content Department. The Intern will assist the Acquisitions Division of the Editorial Content Department by performing contact research, contact gathering, contact organization and publication acquisition. The Intern will report to the Assistant Acquisitions Editor, the Director of Editorial Content, and the Managing Director for all tasks and assignments.

Required Skills
  • Provide administrative support to the Acquisitions Division as needed for organizational and structural benefit including, but not limited to: scanning, filing, copying, and letter/e-mail composition.
  • Organize target contacts and coordinate existing contact lists for the Acquisitions Division
  • Assist the Assistant Acquisitions Editor in the creation of new forms and templates
  • Assist in data maintenance and data clean-up projects as assigned by the Assistant Acquisitions Editor
  • Assist in sending update requests for stalled proposals in the initial assessment phase and reporting progress to the department as assigned
  • Shadow Assistant Acquisitions Editor and Editorial Assistants to familiarize with department procedures, work flow, and overall initiatives of the company
  • Support the Acquisitions Division’s contact recruitment, organization, and research initiatives
  • Collect contact information via a variety of sources including, but not limited to: Internet research, list-servs, hard copy catalogues, conference committees, university departments, associations, conferences, workshops, symposiums, etc.
  • Collect and organize conference, workshop, symposium, etc., information to identify new contacts
  • Disseminate invitations and calls for proposals, book chapters, replacement editors, etc as assigned by the Assistant Acquisitions Editor
  • Support the efforts of the Journals Department by supplying contacts, calls, and updates regarding Journals in need of Special Development assistance
  • Support the Development Division in Special Development projects for troubled books
  • Send receipts to lead editor/author for submitted proposals as necessary
  • Record received proposals in the appropriate log as necessary
  • Forward all received proposals to all members of Acquisitions Department as received
Compensation Package
  • This is a PAID Internship. The hours will be between 15-20 per week.
Education
  • Candidate should be enrolled in University studies, or be a recent graduate with a major relating to the above-mentioned responsibilities.
