Abstract

The internet is becoming a widely used source of both online services and information. The primary function of the internet is to move data between nodes. It is a vast collection of interconnected devices and computers, and it has become the target of different cybercrimes. Due to the rapid development of the internet and the increasing number of cyber-attacks, the detection of these attacks has become more important. The traditional security methods are not enough to face these threats; thus, researchers have been developing smarter techniques such as deep learning and machine learning to address these problems. This chapter explores the various aspects of deep learning and machine learning on information security. It also focuses on the challenges and motivations of this new technology. This chapter reviewed previously conducted surveys and papers in the last two years in the field; thus, it can be used by researchers who are interested in learning more about the various aspects and trends of deep learning and machine learning in information security.
