Maximino Costumado

Maximino Costumado is a Ph.D. candidate in Community Development at the School of Built Environment & Development Studies (SOBEDS) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and he holds a master's in population studies. He has more than ten years of experience in the academia and research industry, community development, volunteer and non-governmental organization sectors in Canada, Mozambique, and South Africa. He is currently a community Development lecturer and researcher at the School of Built Environment and Development Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He teaches in the bachelor and honors programs. His interest in research deals with thematic areas such as good governance and public transparency, Community mapping and GIS, Demographics and population; Environment and coastal management; Community and economic development; Human rights and development; Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Urbanization; Food security and safety; Youth empowerment, Responsible citizenship, and public participation in governance processes; Sexual health and reproductive rights; Public health; and Migration issues in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. He is skilled in designing qualitative and quantitative research instruments, using software analysis and production of research data, preparing technical reports, monitoring and evaluation, and writing articles.
