International Journal of Decision Support System Technology (IJDSST)

Submit a Paper to the International Journal of Decision Support System Technology (IJDSST)

Published Continuous Volume. Est. 2009.

The primary objective of the International Journal of Decision Support System Technology (IJDSST) is to provide comprehensive coverage for DMSS technology issues. The issues can involve, among other things, new hardware and software for DMSS, new models to deliver decision making support, dialog management between the user and system, data and model base management within the system, output display and presentation, DMSS operations, and DMSS technology management. Since the technology's purpose is to improve decision making, the articles are expected to link DMSS technology to improvements in the process and outcomes of the decision making process.

Decision Making Support Systems (DMSS) are information systems that interactively support the decision making process of individuals and groups in life, public, and private organizations, and other entities. These systems include Decision Support Systems (DSS), Executive Information Systems (EIS), Executive Support systems (ESS), Management Support Systems (MSS), Knowledge Based Systems (KBS), Intelligent Decision Support Systems (IDSS) and Creativity Enhancing Systems (CES). A theme that all articles published in the IJDSST have in common is to define new technologies in support of decision making. These technologies can be developed from several points of view: methodological, theoretical or technical.

Each DMSS is a vehicle that delivers effectively and efficiently information technology and decision technology to the system user at a local or networked workstation or online through the Internet. The areas addressed by published papers can be diverse, including but not limited to: architectures of DSS, functionalities, mathematical models of problem solving, algorithms, man-machine interface, methods or methodologies. Decision technology usually involves accounting, cognitive science, economic science, management science, statistical models, operational research models and multi-criteria analyses that describe the decision problem explicitly and provide algorithms and methodologies that generate recommended solutions.

There are a number of excellent theoretical and applied scholarly journals that offer articles in many DMSS areas. None, however, have a primary focus on DMSS technology and its role in DMSS support for the decision making process.

The Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Decision Support System Technology (IJDSST) would like to invite you to consider submitting a manuscript for inclusion in this scholarly journal. The following describes the mission, the coverage, and the guidelines for submission to IJDSST.

Mission

The primary objective of the International Journal of Decision Support System Technology (IJDSST) is to provide comprehensive coverage for DMSS technology issues. The issues can involve, among other things, new hardware and software for DMSS, new models to deliver decision making support, dialog management between the user and system, data and model base management within the system, output display and presentation, DMSS operations, and DMSS technology management. Since the technology’s purpose is to improve decision making, the articles are expected to link DMSS technology to improvements in the process and outcomes of the decision making process. This link can be established theoretically, mathematically, or empirically in a systematic and scientific manner.

Coverage

The coverage of the journal covers a range of topics within the area of specialization. Among the topics of interest are:

  • Context awareness, modeling, and management for DMSS
  • DMSS computer hardware
  • DMSS computer systems and application software
  • DMSS data capture, storage, and retrieval

  • Web-based and mobile DMSS technologies
  • Other related technology issues that impact the overall utilization and management of DMSS in modern life and organizations

Submission

Submission Procedure:

Prospective authors should note that only original and previously unpublished article manuscripts will be considered. Interested authors must consult the Journal Guidelines for Manuscript Submission at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/journal-guidelines-for-submission/?titleid=1120 PRIOR to submission. Any further questions may be answered at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/. All article manuscript submissions will be forwarded to at least three members of the editorial review board of the journal for a double-blind peer review. The final decision regarding acceptance/revision/rejection will be based on the reviews received from the reviewers.

Starting January 1st, 2023, this journal will be converting from Hybrid Open Access to full Gold Open Access, meaning from January 1st, 2023 onward all of its published contents will be 100% open access and the copyright of the published work will stay with the author(s) ((Note: IGI Global open access journal article manuscript publishing offers authors the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licensing arrangement. The copyright for the work remains solely with the author(s) of the article manuscript), and the publisher will provide the published contents free of charge globally (there will no longer be subscription fees or payment of any kind required for individuals and libraries to access and utilize the published contents).

Once the journal is converted to Gold Open Access in 2023 and will no longer have subscription revenue backing it, the journal will be heavily reliant on Open Access Article Processing Charges (APCs) payment provided by either the author(s) or his/her/their respective institution or another funding agency, AFTER the article manuscript submission has been through a full double-blind peer review and the Editor-in-Chief at his/her full discretion has decided to accept the manuscript based on the results of the double-blind peer review process. The APC will offset the costs of all of the activities associated with the publication of the article manuscript, including the digital tools used to support the manuscript management and review process, the typesetting, formatting and layout, online hosting, the submission of the journal’s content to numerous abstracts, directories, and indexes, third party software (plagiarism checks), editorial support which includes manuscript tracking, communications, submission guideline checks, communications with authors and reviewers, as well as all promotional support and activities which includes metadata distribution, press releases, promotional communications, web content, ads, fliers, brochures, postcards, etc. for the journal and its published contents; and the fact that all published articles will be freely accessible and able to be posted and disseminated widely by the authors.

The Article Processing Charge (APC) for this journal is currently set at $2,550 USD and authors will not be asked to provide payment of the APC fee (directly to the publisher) until AFTER their manuscript has gone through the full double-blind peer review process and the Editor-in-Chief at his/her full discretion has decided to accept the manuscript based on the results of the double-blind peer review process. Please note that there is absolutely NO correlation between the APC (Article Processing Charge) being paid by the author and the results of review process outcomes.

For more information on APCs and Open Access Publishing please visit IGI Global’s open access publishing page here. Funding should be secured before submitting to an IGI Global open access journal. Researchers who are uncertain where to find funding for OA processing charges can visit IGI Global's Open Access Funding Resources Page. It is recommended to read the following article published by Web of Science, “A researcher’s complete guide to open access papers”.

Developing Country Statement:

Those coming from certain developing countries will be able to take advantage of discounts or waivers with careful consideration by IGI Global’s Executive Editorial Board. Also, authors of submitted manuscripts can take advantage of IGI Global’s Read and Publish Open Access Initiative, which allows authors who are affiliated with institutions that are currently subscribed to one or more IGI Global databases to benefit from APC funding (you can learn more about how this all works here). In the case of a multi-authored work, even if only one author is eligible for the discount or waiver, all authors of the work will benefit from the waiver or discount. Additionally, if an author chooses to utilize any of IGI Global’s Author Services on their manuscript, the amount paid for any of these author services will be deducted from the final Article Processing Charge (APC).
