IGI Global's Transformative Read and Publish Model
Open Access Padlock
Providing Sustainable Open Access (OA) Funding to Your Institution

Turn your university library’s e-Collections acquisition into a source of open access (OA) funding through IGI Global’s OA Fee Waiver (Read and Publish) Initiative!

IGI Global’s OA Fee Waiver (Read and Publish) Initiative provides an additional source of OA funding to institutions that invest in IGI Global’s e-Collections. Under this initiative, when a library invests in IGI Global e-Book, e-Journal, or discipline/subject-specific e-Collections, IGI Global will match the library’s investment with a fund of equal value to go toward subsidizing the OA article processing charges (APCs) and OA book processing charges (BPCs) for their students, faculty, and staff at that institution when their work is submitted and accepted under OA (following peer review) into an IGI Global journal or book. Be sure to recommend or invest in the e-Collections to take advantage of this initiative. Learn more about this process below.

How Does the Process Work?

Setting Up the Open Access Article Processing Charge (APC) and Book Processing Charge (BPC) Fund:

  • When a library subscribes to or perpetually purchases IGI Global's e-Collections including e-Book, e-Journal, or discipline/subject-specific e-Collections, IGI Global will match the library’s investment with a fund of equal value to go toward subsidizing the open access APCs and/or BPCs for their patrons (faculty, students, and researchers).

Submitting an Article or Chapter Under Open Access:

  • When a student, faculty, or staff member submits an article or chapter and it is accepted (following the peer review) into one of IGI Global’s scholarly journals or reference books, the author will have the option to have their article or chapter published under a traditional publishing model or as OA.
  • When the author chooses to have their submission published under OA, IGI Global will notify them of the OA Fee Waiver (Read and Publish) Initiative. If the author decides they would like to take advantage of this initiative, IGI Global will deduct the applicable processing charge from the created fund.
  • All IGI Global publications will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process and each project or paper accepted under OA receives the same high-quality production process as our non-open access publications.

Renewal of Funds:

  • When a library subscribes to or perpetually purchases IGI Global’s e-Collections including e-Book Collection (6,000+ e-books), e-Journal Collection, and/or their discipline/subject-focused subsets, IGI Global will match the library’s investment with a fund of equal value to go toward subsidizing the open access APCs for their patrons (faculty, students, and researchers).
