Systems Biology and Infectious Diseases
A set of nodes whose state is determined by other nodes in the network: it is a directed graph where nodes are either present (node of value=1) or absent (node of value=0).

Methods for Reverse Engineering of Gene Regulatory Networks
This refers to a graphical structure with nodes that can have two discrete states. A state of a node is determined by the state of other connected nodes. The state of the network is determined by the state of each node.
