November 10, 2016, Hershey, PA – IGI Global is pleased to announce that the Handbook of Research on Emerging Technologies for Architectural and Archaeological Heritage was recently nominated for the University of Mary Washington’s Center for Historic Preservation 2017 Historic Preservation Book Prize.

Established by the Center in 1988, the Historic Preservation Book Prize is awarded annually by a jury of preservation academics and professionals to the book with the most potential for positively impacting the discipline of historic preservation in the United States. In making its selection, the jury focuses on books that break new ground or contribute to the intellectual vitality of the preservation movement.

The Handbook of Research on Emerging Technologies for Architectural and Archaeological Heritage is an authoritative reference source for the latest scholarly research on the use of technological assistance for the preservation of architecture and archaeology in a global context. Focusing on various surveying technologies for the study, analysis, and protection of historical buildings, this book is ideally designed for professionals, researchers, upper-level students, and practitioners. Edited by Alfonso Ippolito (Sapienza University of Rome, Italy), this reference covers a variety of preservation topics including laser scanning technologies, morphological analysis, residential and ancient architecture, and seismic assessment.

Many thanks to the Center for Historic Preservation for this acknowledgement, and we look forward to the results of this prestigious award.
