Simon C. Ripley

Simon Ripley (he/they) is a lecturer of education at The University of Sunderland. They have over 25 years of experience working in all phases of education and has a particular focus on improving outcomes for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities as well as other learners who could be categorised as ‘vulnerable’. They are an enthusiastic advocate for social justice and for the role which this plays within education. As a teacher, Simon has extensive experience of school leadership including roles designed to improve the quality of teaching and learning and as previously being the Headteacher of an all-age special school. They are currently working towards their Doctorate which focuses on classroom interactions between teachers and learners with SEND, which has been of lifelong professional interest to him. Simon is proudly neurodivergent which is something that is actively reflected in all of their work.
