Abstract

This chapter examines, introduces, and documents the exploration and initial review of an institutional self-assessment toolkit designed to query and instigate discussion of how institutions perceive equity as they serve “historically-underserved” undergraduate students. A pilot of the toolkit, developed by the National Institutes for Historically Underserved Students (NIHUS), was evaluated by a working group of the Undergraduate Advisory Council within Walden University. The working group generated feedback to the NIHUS on the toolkit and considered potential wider adoption across undergraduate education within the university. This exploration and collaboration continues.
