Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a powerful tool for disaster management, offering real-time insights, situational awareness, and enhanced decision-making capabilities. In the past decade, AI has emerged as a powerful tool for predicting natural disasters. In this review, we explore the intersections of AI, disaster management, and societal resilience, highlighting the transformational potential of AI technologies in mitigating the impacts of natural and human-induced disasters. It explores the historical evolution of AI applications in disaster management and also addresses ethical considerations. Moreover, the incorporation of AI in social media analytics and natural language processing for emergency communication highlights its role in improving information dissemination and community engagement during emergencies. The review highlights the use of AI in disaster management, ultimately building more resilient and inclusive communities worldwide.
