Abstract

Global tourism is becoming progressively acknowledged for its link to the sustainable development goals (SDGs). This study aims to explore how India can meet its sustainable development objectives through religious and wellness tourism. The study explores the effect of push and pull factors on travelers' motivation to travel. The study uses a quantitative and exploratory design, incorporating data gathered from 142 questionnaire responses. Results indicate that independent variables accounted for 38% of the variance in travel motivation, with a R Square value of 0.331. While gender and the cultural significance of the destination are important determinants, other factors may not have as much of an impact on motivation. The study emphasizes how tourism can support sustainable development, especially when it comes to promoting social inclusion, economic growth, and environmental preservation. The research's insights can help location managers, tourist authorities, and legislators create sustainable tourism experiences and regulations that support all-encompassing growth.
