Abstract
This chapter explores the fundamental principles and practices of the circular economy, focusing on its critical role in driving sustainability across modern economies. The transition from a linear model to a circular system is essential for addressing global challenges such as resource depletion, waste generation, and environmental degradation. The key elements of the circular economy, including designing for longevity, reuse, and recycling, as well as closing the loop in supply chains, are discussed in detail. By promoting resource efficiency, reducing waste, and regenerating natural systems, the circular economy offers significant benefits, such as economic growth, innovation, and improved supply chain resilience. The chapter further highlights the potential advantages of circular practices for businesses and governments. Through an examination of real-world examples and industry strategies, the chapter provides insights into how the circular economy can support the development of sustainable and resilient economies for the future.
