Abstract

Honor Killing is an issue which needs to have a solution which is more or less universally accepted but before that it is important to understand what is Honor Killing, a definition which defines this heinous crime. Various states and its government bodies, organizations and jurists have tried to define the aforesaid crime but the definition still remains blurred. Different definitions have covered different aspects. This chapter basically deals with how various important organizations and others have defined or have given its stance on Honor Killing. This chapter also contains issues regarding the nomenclature, namely, gender biases. Almost everywhere the crime is considered to be a violence or abuse or crime in respect of women. It is not wrong to consider it as a violence against women because women were really subjected to it for a long time and it may not be wrong to say that the situation has become worse. But there is another side of the coin too. This crime can no longer be considered an offence related only to women.
