Abstract
Passive design is a sustainable approach to architecture that prioritizes natural elements and energy efficiency. It encompasses strategies such as heat recovery ventilation, spatial openness for natural light and airflow, energy-efficient HVAC systems, and heat control mechanisms. Effective insulation, high-performance windows, proper solar orientation, and an airtight envelope are crucial components. By minimizing environmental impact and maximizing occupant comfort, passive design offers a holistic solution for high-performance architecture. This chapter will provide detailed insights into these strategies and their real-world applications.
