IGI Global Continues to Advance the State of Content Availability

IGI Global Continues to Advance the State of Content Availability In pursuit of IGI Global’s ongoing mission to progress innovation and serve the academic community through the most emerging research findings, we are pleased to share that we are continuously increasing the rate of availability of our publications by allowing a multitude of access options and features – open access, free limited time access, and an advanced database platform.

Open Access Publishing
Unlike traditional subscription-based publishing models, open access content is available without having to purchase or subscribe to the book or journal in which the content is published. Within the journal publishing realm, IGI Global has always been predominately a subscription-based publisher. However, in the recent years, IGI Global has launched a Hybrid Open Access Program, and in the recent months we opened up every single one of our journals to allow for both standard (subscription-based) and open access manuscript submission options. If the author opts to publish the paper as open access, once the manuscript has undergone the typical double-blind peer review process through IGI Global’s eEditorial Discovery® system and is accepted by the Editor(s)-in-Chief of the journal, the author or funding body may then pay an article processing charge to make the paper freely available online alongside the subscription-based content. With this option, the published article is immediately made freely available, without any embargo.

Free Limited Time Access
IGI Global recently announced the Emerging Research Free Access Program, an initiative developed to make the latest ground-breaking scholarly material available to researchers worldwide. Upon release, all IGI Global titles will be opened to the public for a temporary period of three days, allowing full-text access via the InfoSci® platform. Including both books and journals, this program will boost the current state of academic resources and promote cutting-edge research to scholars around the world.

Access free content every Tuesday at 12:00AM through Thursday at 11:59PM (EST) at the IGI Global InfoSci® platform. An active IGI Global account is required. Log-in or create your free account now.

Advanced Database Platform
IGI Global’s Electronic Resources offer favorable policies for researchers and librarians alike. When a university or institution subscribes to IGI Global’s e-resources, faculty members, students, and researchers at these respective institutions can take advantage of extremely liberal DRM polices. An unlimited number of users can utilize the advanced, fast, full-text searching with HTML and PDF viewing options with the ability to copy, paste, and print directly from the advanced mobile-friendly InfoSci® platform.

Database options include InfoSci-Books (3,400+ e-books), InfoSci-Journals (166+ e-journals), InfoSci-Videos (100+ streaming video lectures), InfoSci-Select (a customizable database option), as well as smaller subject-specific databases and single title purchases are also available. Free trials of these databases are available at any time by simply recommending to your librarian.

Additionally, IGI Global is currently working with various international distribution channels to fulfill individual e-book purchases directly through this advanced platform, for an example please view this archived story from IGI Global’s newsroom.
