From January 20th-24th, IGI Global had the opportunity to attend the 2017 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. Having the reputation for being the top educational and networking event for librarians, the ALA Midwinter Meeting’s tagline this year was “The Conversation Starts Here.” The tagline features talks and presentations that address technologies, developments, and updates in the field of librarianship and education. The meeting also reinforced the need for libraries to adapt to new technology, improve services, and remain vigilant despite tight budgets. The networking opportunities for communication and collaboration at ALA Midwinter have an outstanding track record for bringing long-term professional benefits, encouraging the sharing of ideas and best practices throughout the field.

IGI Global, posted at Booth #1650, was honored to host and attend various presentations on the future of libraries, e-books, and technology in the fields of librarianship and education. There was a lot of interest surrounding the Encyclopedia of Information and Technology, Fourth Edition and librarians were thrilled about it being 100 percent new content. Melissa Wagner, an attendee from IGI Global, mentioned, "It was great to have the chance to speak with some of the industry’s leading librarians and discuss our products. Not only were our databases and publications, especially our Library Information Science titles, met with interest and approval, but we were also able to learn more about the librarian’s and their extensive roles in their institutions."

The conference had 6,079 attendees and 2,916 exhibitors for a grand total of 8,995. ALA Midwinter also hosted various noteworthy speakers including the well-known Neil Patrick Harris who is also an actor, producer, director, host, author, and magician. His latest debut is called The Magic Misfits, which is a series designed to encourage and entertain children. His genuine support and passion truly enhanced this event and were greatly appreciated by all.

Thank you to everyone who came by the IGI Global booth! ALA Midwinter continues to be an excellent experience for publishers, writers, academics, and most of all, librarians. Be sure to check out other ALA Midwinter buzz by going to #alamw17.
