Quality Criteria & Principles
  1. Mandates a double-anonymized peer review of every book chapter and journal article that is submited to its publications. The peer review process is carefully managed, executed, and monitored using the eEditorial Discovery submission management system where all reviews and records of the entire peer review process are kept and are regularly reviewed/audited by our internal editorial team.
  2. Offers a timely and quality-centric publishing process where within its average roughly 6-9 month turnaround for book publications and roughly 2-3 month turnaround for journal article publishing, 80% of that time is dedicated to a thorough peer review and research vetting process.
  3. Maintains strict editorial policies and publication ethics, supported by a seasoned editorial leadership team with decades of experience. This team audits publications to ensure that all authors, editors, and reviewers understand and comply with these standards and will execute a careful and thorough due process whenever appeals or ethical concerns are brought forward. Also, IGI Global Scientific Publishing is a full member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and all IGI Global Scientific Publishing publications adhere generally to the Core Practices recommended by COPE.
  4. Mandates that all book authors and book editors, journal editors, book chapter contributors, journal article contributors, and reviewers provide their ORCID iD to validate their identities upon their publication contracting, manuscript submission, or reviewer application submission. All individuals are also asked to submit a full CV, bio, full affiliation details, and research interests to ensure proper alignment of expertise and experience with editorial projects.
  5. Mandates that all editors, authors, and reviewers disclose any conflicts/competing interests and that transparency is upheld.
  6. Remains dedicated to supporting the international academic community by promoting inclusivity and welcoming researchers from all over the world, both native English and non-native English-speaking authors, editors, and reviewers; actively inviting findings from underrepresented research communities and striving to resist biases o􀅌en found in scholarly publishing.
  7. Welcomes contributions from doctoral-level researchers at all stages in their career, including early career researchers and seasoned senior-level researchers with rich publication histories, as well as professionals with exceptional expertise and experience, believing that all can offer critical perspectives and outlooks to their research community.
  8. Works with authors and editors throughout the entire publication development and production processes, including a thorough author/editor proofing process which ensures that contributors can see their final formatted and typeset work before it moves forward to final publication.
  9. Evaluates journal and book publication proposals through careful analysis by its editorial team internally and as needed by experts in the field externally. This critical assessment gauges the validity of the proposed research and then welcomes collaboration with editors/authors to help narrow down topics to fill identified gaps in the current research.
  10. Prioritizes a researcher-oriented approach, emphasizing the needs of the research community and the merit of the research and necessity of that research (even if to a niche audience) over profit. Unlike many academic publishers that favor broad, commercially viable content with a large audience, IGI Global Scientific Publishing collaborates with authors and editors to address specific gaps in the literature, resulting in focused, cohesive works that target specific themes and topics.
  11. Considers itself to be part of the research community, closely observing how the researchers within the community are interacting with each other and what trends are emerging. It adopts a highly responsive content strategy, taking risks on topics that may become significant in the future, even if they don't ultimately gain traction. This approach reflects a commitment to innovation and fosters a dynamic exchange of ideas.
  12. Believes in applying research to real-world settings, which means incorporating applied research alongside traditional research.
  13. Maintains first rights publishing and only publishes 100% original content. All authors are required to sign an Author’s Warranty during the submission process that warrants that the manuscript that has been submitted to IGI Global Scientific Publishing is original and has not been submitted for publication or published elsewhere, and that all trademark use within the manuscript has been credited to its owner or wri􀆩en permission to use the name has been granted. In addition, the author(s) acknowledges that all images such as tables, screenshots, graphics, etc., do not have a copyright that is held by a third party. Authors may not use substantial verbatim text from another copyrighted work without the written permission of the copyright holder.
  14. Supports optimal accessibility by offering all its publications in both print and electronic formats, as well as in larger and more compact sizes (and even chapter and article purchasing options). Additionally, IGI Global Scientific Publishing worked with a librarian associated with the Library Accessibility Alliance (LAA) to rapidly and aggressively create solutions to address any shortcomings or issues with its e-book platform in order to ensure compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  15. Converted its entire collection of journals to gold open access and still fully maintained its robust double-anonymized peer review process with multiple layers of peer review and quality assurance. Payment of the open access article processing charge (directly to the publisher) by the author or a funding body is not required until AFTER the manuscript has gone through the full double-anonymized peer review process and the Editor(s)-in-Chief at his/her/their full discretion has/have decided to accept the manuscript based on the results of the double-anonymized peer review process.
  16. Increased its vigilance in preventing ethical vulnerability in open access publishing by stopping all journal special issues.
  17. Joined forces with United2Act as a signatory, endorsing their effort to combat paper mills. United2Act is an international group and is supported by STM and COPE (view an insightful piece about United2Act’s mission here).
