Akash Mohanty

Akash Mohanty is working as Professor, in the School of Mechanical Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India. He has about 13+ years of teaching and 6+ years of industrial experience. He received his bachelor’s degree in science with distinction from Utkal University, Odisha, mechanical engineering from The Institute of Engineers (India), and M.Tech. degree in plastics engineering from CIPET-Bhubaneswar, Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela, Odisha. He obtained his PhD degree from the department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT-BHU, Varanasi. He has published 75 research papers in refereed international journals and at various national/international conferences. He has also had research exposure at IIT Kanpur while studying for his master's degree. He has received several best paper awards for his research papers at various international conferences. His areas of research include solid mechanics, fracture and fatigue, damage and failure analysis, structural composites, metal/polymer matrix hybrid composites, life time estimation and stress analysis of thermal barrier coatings, and FEA. He is an fellow member of IE (I).
