Carol Nelson

Carol Nelson, as a Lecturer in the Department of Government at the University of the West Indies, Mona, holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Government and lectures in International Political Economy, International Organizations, Media and Political Opinion, Climate Change Governance & Development and Global Political Economy and Climate Change. Dr Nelson comes to the UWI with over 20 years of experience as a director in the public sector, effectively coordinating and implementing various initiatives and activities with regards to international and regional financial institutions. Dr Nelson’s responsibilities for several years involved representing the Government of Jamaica in various fora, such as on the Board of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and CARICOM’s Council for Finance and Planning and the CARICOM Commission on the Economy, representing the Caribbean region in 2010 on the UN Committee for Programme and Co-Ordination at the United Nations. Amongst her certification, she holds a Professional Certificate in Strategic Climate Change Adaptation from the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies, UK; an MSc in International Policy Analysis from the University of Bath, in the UK as well as a BSc in Geography & Social Sciences from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Jamaica.
