Fredrick Boakye-Yiadom

Fredrick Boakye-Yiadom forges a new theoretical approach to the study of African Art that is thoroughly grounded in thoughts and actions of the users. This approach emphasizes on the beliefs the users of the Arts attach to the individual Arts from different African Cultures, their functionality as well as Africans in the diaspora. Rich description of the Arts is rendered more vivid by a generous selection of Art works. Boakye-Yiadom is a holder of Ph.D of Art and Culture at University of Education Winneba. As an Associate Professor, Art Historian, Conservation and Restoration artist, Boakye-Yiadom specialises in conserving and restoring outdoor sculptures of all kinds. Having been associated with teaching for more than twenty-three years, He has gained the understanding of how Africans treat their Art pieces. He taught at the basic level for eight years and subsequently at the tertiary level for the last fifteen years teaching history of art (History of Ancient Art and History of African Art), Assemblage and Construction, Interior Design, and others at Takoradi Technical University, Takoradi. Besides, teaching and supervising students' projects, He serve as the University's Teacher Union Secretary and a Hall Warden for the past eight years.
