Gomathy Nambiur Balasubramanian

Gomathy Balasubramanian is a social science professional with 30 years of theoretical and practical experience in various social development and governance initiatives designed. She has designed and implemented with several illustrious international and national institutions in multi-stakeholder environments (UNTF, TISS, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, UN-Habitat II, IDBI, World Bank, Prime Minister’s Office on Skill Development, Action Aid Asia, etc.) Over a span of 20 years she has been involved in facilitating more than 75 human process labs and leadership capacity-building programmes related to social development. These events reached out to more than 3000 people, including students and youth, academicians, activists, government officials, civil society actors and corporate professionals. She has conducted various social researches on topics such as violence, poverty, and governance of commons, disasters, public policy, habitats, social movements, etc. In the last eight years, her focus of enquiry has been on the Psychology of Social Development. This emerging field examines the integral relations between consciousness, individual psychology, and complex social systems.
