José Manuel Azcona Pastor

José Manuel Azcona Pastor professor of Contemporary History at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid (URJC), he teaches the subject History of the Modern World. He is Director of the Ibero-American Chair of Excellence URJC-Santander Presdeia, attached to the Santander Universities Program of Banco Santander. He has been Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Deusto; Professor of Geography at the UNED; and of Economic History at the Official School of the Chamber of Commerce of Bilbao (Center attached to the University of the Basque Country-EHU). He is Master in Cooperation and Security in Ibero-America by CESEDEN (2001) and author of 190 scientific papers published in Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Albania, Bulgaria, United States, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, Japan and China on emigration, political violence and terrorism and contemporary political-social movements, in prestigious publishing houses and academic journals with significant impact factor. At the URJC he has been, among other positions, Vice-Dean of Students at the Fuenlabrada Campus, and Director of Social Outreach Activities and Director of Cultural Activities between 2001 and 2013. Since 2019 he has been Director of the Senior University. He is coordinator of the Contemporary History Area of the URJC.
