Joseph Philipo Telemala

Joseph Telemala has a PhD in computer science from the University of Cape Town. He holds a master's degree in computer science from Mahatma Gandhi University in India and a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. He has over ten years of experience working in academia as a tutorial assistant and is now a lecturer in the Department of Informatics and Information Technology at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). His research focuses on information retrieval (IR) and natural language processing, with a focus on Kiswahili. He also works in ICT4D and AI for agriculture, primarily to improve information dissemination and communication between agricultural experts and farmers. His teaching interests include information retrieval, system analysis and design, remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS).
