July P. Carrillo

July P. Carrillo , a native of Bogotá, Colombia, is the Director of the Virginia College Affordability Network (VCAN) & Strategic Initiatives at Virginia State University, an HBCU founded in 1882. July has nearly a decade of experience in higher education, managing programs meant to enhance institutional student success, retention, and graduation efforts. July has devoted particular attention in her career to creating transformational programs for minority, first-generation and underserved students. July holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from the University of West Georgia. She completed her dissertation on the college experiences of Latino males, earning an Ed.D. in the Higher Education Administration and Leadership program at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, Incorporated and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
