Malai Zeiti Sheikh Abdul Hamid

Malai Zeiti Hamid is Assistant Professor with the Centre for Communication, Teaching and Learning and Head of the Wellness Research Thrust at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB). She graduated with a PhD in English Language and Literacy Education (Bath), Masters of Education in Applied Linguistics and TESOL (Leicester) and Bachelors in Education in Teaching English as a Second Language (Brunei). Dr Zeiti has a Teaching Certificate in Higher Education (Harvard) and completed the Women's Leadership Development Programme (Oxford). Dr Zeiti was awarded the Royal Charter Qualification of Chartered Teacher of English (CTE) by the English Association (EA, UK). She is a Chartered Linguist of Education from the UK Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIL, UK). In addition, she is also a Fellow of the UK Chartered College of Teaching (UK CCT) and Fellow of the UK Society of Education and Training (UK SET). During her career, she had been an award recipient of the US - ASEAN Fulbright Scholarship Program and received the UTB Teaching Excellence Award Special Mention at her university. She was a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) and is currently pursuing her postdoctoral programme at Harvard University. Dr Zeiti is the President of the Brunei Reading and Literacy Association (ReLA), and is the international ambassador for Brunei for the UK Literacy Association (UKLA). She is Founder and Curator of TEDxBandarSeriBegawan. Her current research interests are Cultural Literacy and Digital Literacy. She has presented widely in numerous international conferences as keynote speaker, moderator and chair to various webinar and presentations including the UK, USA and ASEAN countries. She is a published author for children’s book for Brunei. More recently, Dr Zeiti has been writing stories for promoting children’s literature internationally through a collection of stories entitled, “Cultural Stories Around the World”, and scheduled to be launched this year.
