Richard C. Jones

Richard C. Jones is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University. Dr. Jones is a CPA (PA, non-practicing) and has a B.S. in accounting from Drexel University and a Ph.D. in accounting from Rutgers University. Dr. Jones’s business experience includes six years as a vice president at a large global banking corporation, where he was a Divisional Controller in Private Banking and, before taking on that assignment, a Vice President in the bank’s Accounting Policy Group. Before entering banking, Dr. Jones was a member of the staff of the Financial Accounting Standards Board where he specialized in public utility issues. Dr. Jones began his professional career as an auditor in the Melville, NY office of Arthur Andersen and Company. Dr. Jones has served as a presenter and/or discussant for numerous academic and professional accounting conferences and has authored or co-authored numerous articles and manuscripts that have been published in professional and academic accounting and reporting journals. He has also co-authored a book on revenue recognition and, over the years, has reviewed and edited accounting and reporting publications and manuscripts for the CPA Journal and the American Institute of CPAs. Dr. Jones is an active member of the NYSSCPAs, where he is a member of several professional committees, including the Future of Accounting Education Committee, the Sustainability Committee, Auditing Standards, and the International Accounting and Auditing Committee, where he is the outgoing committee chair. As an educator, Dr. Jones has received several awards for teaching excellence, including the Hofstra University Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award in 2001.Dr. Jones is member of the NYSSCPAs and the American Accounting Association.
