Sadettin Demirel

Sadettin Demirel completed his undergraduate education in the Public Relations at Kadir Has University in 2016. He obtained his first master's degree in the New Media at Kadir Has University in 2018. In 2019, as a recipient of a scholarship from the Swedish Institute, he completed his second master's degree in Investigative Journalism at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. In 2023, he received the title of PhD in the field of Journalism at Istanbul University, with his dissertation titled “Unraveling the Relationship between Sentiments and User Engagements in Twitter News: A Multimethod Study.” Dr. Demirel's academic interests encompass various areas, including new media, text mining, computational social sciences, sentiment analysis, social networks, and data journalism. Actively engaged in civil society activities, he is the founder and a board member of the Data Literacy Association (VOYD), based in Istanbul. This organization is established with the mission of promoting data literacy in Turkey and supporting data journalism and open data initiatives.
