Stephen M. Gariepy

Steve Gariepy is an experiential, environmental, interpretive, outdoor, place-based program developer, educator and coordinator, and artist. Focusing on direct service application in immersive, non-formal settings. He has developed, facilitated and overseen educational programs on the land and waters for groups of learners pre-k through elders, for nearly twenty years in beautiful southern Illinois and beyond. Creating and providing opportunities for learners to make connections between themselves and the landscapes they inhabit, to each other, to themselves as humans on the planet, and to something bigger than themselves. Steve is currently working with the Southern Illinois University Carbondale STEM Education Research Center to connect teacher educators and pre-service teachers with non-formal education organizations and professionals, methods and practices. To better educate science/learning concepts and standards through interdisciplinary delivery of immersive experiences.
