Yasemin Kırkgöz

Yasemin Kırkgöz holds a B.A. in English language teacher education from Cukurova University in Turkey, and postgraduate degrees in applied linguistics from the University of Aston in the UK. She has published widely in foreign language policy and practice, English medium education in higher education, curriculum renewal, and teacher education in a number of international journals including Teaching and Teacher Education, Educational Policy, Teaching in Higher Education, Current Issues in Language Planning and System, and wrote book chapters in some leading publishers including IGI, Routledge, Multilingual Matters, and Springer. She has taught English for Academic/Specific Purposes and teacher education courses at Cukurova University in Turkey since 1985. Currently, at the undergraduate level, the courses she delivers are Curriculum and World Englishes, and at the postgraduate level Foreign Language Policy, Management and Leadership in ELT, ESP, and Problem-Based Learning in ELT. She received the Third Annual David E. Eskey Memorial Award for Curricular Innovation for her publication Innovation as a Curriculum Renewal Process in a Turkish University in 2006, and the Leadership and Management Special Interest Group (SIG) award from IATEFL in 2013. Her co-edited books ‘Key Issues in English for Specific Purposes in Higher Education’, and ‘English as the Medium of Instruction in Turkish Higher Education: Policy, Practice and Progress’ were published by Springer.
