Yuval Cohen

Yuval CohenAcademic Background Dr. Yuval Cohen is a Senior Faculty Member at the Industrial Engineering department of the Tel-Aviv Afeka College of Engineering. Previously, he was the Head of the Industrial Engineering program at the Open University of Israel. His areas of expertise are in the intersection of: Operations management, Logistics and Operations Research. In particular he has published many papers on assembly lines design and management, project management, business decision making, and supply chain management.. Dr Cohen served several years as a Senior Operations Planner at FedEx Ground (USA) responsible for the five year plan for the 24 hubs and 400 terminals. He received several awards for his contributions to the hub and terminal network planning. In 2001 he returned to Israel to establish and manage the Industrial Engineering program, and in 2014 he moved to Afeka Tel-Aviv Academic College of Engineering. He received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh (USA), his MSc from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and BSc from Ben-Gurion University. Dr Cohen is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), and a Full Member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS). Professional Background Dr. Cohen has worked 5 years at FedEx Ground company in the USA, as a senior operations planner. He was responsible for the five year plan for the 24 hubs and 400 spokes network of FedEx Ground, and the company capacity planning. After coming back to Israel he served as a consultant for the Flying Cargo company (which operates FedEx in Israel). Dr. Cohen is a business consultant for issues related to decision making in business and operations, operations planning and operational costs of new initiatives, current practices and extended operations.
