Abstract

Mobile applications in online shopping have made buying and selling transactions easier with effortless access to transactions anywhere and anytime. Alfagift and Klikindomaret is an online shopping application from Alfagift and Klikindomaret franchised Indonesian convenience store chain. The testing method assesses user interaction with the application. For this purpose, in analyzing the Klikindomaret and Alfagift applications, the usability scale (SUS) system is used. The SUS method was considered insufficient to solve the problem, so it was strengthened by the PACMAD (People at the Center of Mobile Application Development) method. Respondents in this study amounted to 96 people. The SUS-based usability values measurement revealed unsatisfactory results and scores where the SUS score for the Klikindomaret application was 68%. Meanwhile, the SUS score for the Alfagift application was 53%. The measurement of usability value using the PACMAD method on the Klikindomaret application is a score of 55.06% for the effectiveness variable. Meanwhile, the consumer opinions regarding the Alfagift application had a score of 49.533%.

Literature Review

Usability is regarded as one of the most important criteria determining a smartphone's success (Partala & Saari, 2015). Usability is a multidimensional characteristic of every product. Usability is described by ISO standard 9241-11 as “the extent to which a product may be utilized by specified users to achieve stated goals with effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction in a particular context of usage.”(Bevan, Carter, & Harker, 2015). This notion of usability is broadly recognized (Bevan, 1995). In 2011, ISO/IEC 25010 took its place. This document contains a software quality model that defines usability as the extent to which a satisfied user may efficiently and effectively accomplish specific goals in specified circumstances. In contrast to usability, UX is a commonly used term. Both terms are used interchangeably. However, the term UX incorporates a much broader scope of ideas than the term usability. (Sauer, Sonderegger, & Schmutz, 2020). It is feasible to claim that usability is more concerned with the product's and display's simplicity of operation. UX comprises the entirety of the user's interaction with the product, as well as the thoughts, feelings, and perceptions that result from this interaction. (Park, Han, Kim, Cho, & Park, 2013).
