Abstract

Most of the systems are unsuccessful during integration due to insignificant consequences occurring in them. This is due to lack of system scalability that fails to provide an improved workload of the system. This chapter describes the parameters to be measured while evaluating the scalability of the structure. The parameters to be measured are described in a scalability review that represents the problems in it. The primary requirement of CPSs is system reliability because an unreliable system yields service interruption and financial cost. A CPS cannot be set up in critical applications in which system reliability and predictability are inefficient. To provide safety critical systems, a high volume of data is dealt, containing operator-in-loop and operating online constantly. The combined characteristics of physical and computational components allow CPSs to use hybrid dynamical models to integrate discrete and continuous state variables that use computational tools to resolve composite problems.

Introduction

In modern times, the recent and emerging trends enabled the researches to view the complex engineering systems in a different direction. Previously the focus is only on the computational system elements but now it has been extended to the system level and also the interaction of the system with the environment in which it functions. Cyber Physical System is evolved from this new visualization which integrates both the computational and the physical processes and makes the representation of the system to be more practical. As it is becoming more realistic, the analysis, design, testing, monitoring and maintenance become more challenging. The operational flexibility and the efficient resource management are possible only by making such systems as self-managing systems. The more complex and the non-stop functioning in the flexible environment can be carried out only just by increasing the complexity of the CPS. Ultimately, this leads CPS to design with autonomic computing and self-management technology which also turn out to be an attractive area for researchers. Some of the Cyber Physical Systems and autonomic management include Hybrid modelling and fusion of models, Formal modelling methods, Requirements analysis, architecture and implementation and so on.
