Abstract

Education is the key to success for any society. The quality of education is directly linked with the curriculum it contains, the mode of delivery, how effective it is, as well as the volume of dispersion among the society. Digital curriculum (DC) changes the tradition of old teaching and bring higher results in different domains. This chapter examines how DC has played a main role in education in society at various levels and the importance of digital curriculum in education for teachers and students. The digital curriculum has been upgraded to enhance the status of education in a new era. Change provides a greater focus on building the era education. Moreover, the effect and the future of the DC will be illustrated. This research will further bring several ways of implementing DC in different domains, different benefits of it, and its impact on the economic growth as well as in digital governance.

Literature Review

Today, the world is witnessing a technological and digital revolution in various fields, including education. The digital world has begun to increasingly spread in education and skills, as well as the use of technology and the Internet to provide education, knowledge and skills in novel and innovative methods. The usage of these digital technologies has helped transform learning and develop cognitive and scientific skills into a lifelong process. (Alexander & et al, 2017)

Today's society is seen as a digital society. Where people are using technology and digital media as an integral part of their daily lives and practices. Due to the process of examining and evaluating the educational process that is very important, therefore, it is necessary to work and contribute to educational reform by understanding the best digital technology and the life environment of students as they share new ideas and knowledge in learning. Extreme attention must also be given to the digital media process; In order for teachers to reach levels of progress in attention, ability and motivation to the attention of their students, In addition, emphasis should be placed on the kind of content, skills and knowledge that must be enhance by individuals, as well as on enhancing the capacity to adapt and use technology in education and society. Therefore, the process of learning and acquisition of knowledge depends on the educational curriculum and how to teach. (Chien, 2012)

Digital Curriculum Pillars

The curriculum is the sum of the educational, cultural, social, sports, religious, environmental and artistic experiences that the educational institution prepares for its students inside and outside the institution in order to achieve their overall growth and modify their behavior.

It is the content and methods of teaching and classroom activities and extra-curricular methods and teaching methods and methods of appropriate assessment and keep abreast of the changes and current and future developments of society, and the individual output adapted to the requirements of his time, achieving his personal goals and the goals of his community. (Srivastava, 2014)

It is all classroom and extracurricular activities that aim to provide students with educational experiences and achieve the desired goals. Curriculum can be classified as mathematics, science, and other Curriculum, into five basic Pillars: (1) symbols, (2) patterns, (3) order, (4) relationships and / or categories. These groups are referred to as “pillars” because they can be considered individual and stand firmly without outside support, yet, when combined, they can maintain larger structures, in which case human beings learn.
