Common Characteristics Of Engineering And Construction Projects

When we look at a building site, the assembly of a soccer stadium or the construction of a hydroelectric power plant, at first we clearly perceive that these are works with different objectives, but done a deeper evaluation we can perceive some similarities (Coutinhom 2009).

The characteristics common to these projects will determine how your administration will be and what care we should take (PMI, 2017). At first, we can find the following similarities between them:

  • Underestimated deadline;

  • Shortage of skilled labor force;

  • High turnover of labor;

  • High risk of accident due to hostile environment;

  • Significant numbers of people and companies involved;

  • Relevant stakeholder interference;

  • High impact in the site of deployment;

  • Use of pioneering technology;

  • Sometimes embedded in a political setting.
